CURRENT STOCK

5”gauge Exhibition Quality Nigel Gresley A4 pacific

This superb A4 was commission built by a professional model engineer to Clarksons of York’s design and drawings-a company, now unfortunately no longer in existence, that was renowned for the high standard of their castings and an accurate scaling down of the full size locomotive that preserved the details in miniature.

The Wild Swan was one of only four A4’s that had the row of rivets along the top of the boiler.

This model has been in my own collection for some years but is now for sale due to downsizing. The loco has been run on compressed air but not steamed. She has a SMEE hydraulic boiler certificate - 180psi - which expired in 2007.

After completion the locomotive was sent to a commercial spray painter where it received its great professional finish.

Price: £19,950 or part exchange.

3” Foster traction engine

This is a superb ,new build, example of the “extra large” 3” Foster traction engine,-bigger than some 4”traction engines-and easily able to cope with the rough fields many rallies are held on nowadays.

It was professionally built from drawings and castings supplied by Live Steam Models of Little Eaton.

The steel boiler was built by Harry Holt and has all the legally required documents giving the specification of metals, etc.

The boiler certificate expires Jan.2011.

Though a large heavy model it will fit into a Ford Mondeo estate with the “hinged” chimney folded forwards.

Measurements-57”long, 23”wide, 35”high (27”with chimney folded down)

Price: £8,950 or part exchange.

5”g.Very Rare “Bird Class” GWR, “Cormorant”

This “superb quality” build taper boilered Bird Class locomotive with double frames is very similar to the Bulldog Class except for the deeper frames and non-fluted coupling rods.

We have had this model in the workshop and installed a new professional boiler. Ideally I would liked to have kept the original paintwork with its true working patina, but unfortunately ,due to scratches, etc. as the boiler cleeding was removed, we were obliged to give it a complete repaint - I apologise for the different shades of green in the photographs,I waited days for decent light but in the end I had to be satisfied with these results-I find green paint is the most difficult of all to photograph to a true likeness.

The locomotive has an injector, crosshead pump and tender hand pump and measures 60”long, 9”wide and 13”high and is heavier than she looks.

She will have a full boiler certificate before the point of sale.

Price: £6,750 or part exchange.

5”gauge GWR Hawksworth 9400 Pannier Tank 0-6-0

This is another superb example of a GWR loco, the Hawksworth taper boiler pannier tank-(the locomotive that looks like a Speedy but with inside cylinders and valve gear)-this example numbered 9405 being based initially at Old Oak Common and finally Bristol Barrow Road.

The builder initially planned to have this as a running loco but then decided to have it indoors as a display model and so did not install the blastpipe, injectors, cylinder lubricator, superheater header, etc. However, I think that many owners would be more than happy to have it as a display model solely because of the high standard of detail and fine paint finish.

She has a professional silver soldered copper boiler and measures 35”long, 9”wide and 14”high.

A great opportunity to own a very RARE MODEL.

Price: £3,750 or part exchange.

5”gauge GWR 1400 class locomotive-0-4-2

This is an absolutely superb example of this class of locomotive-often referred to as a Railmotor. It started life as a Modelworks kit but has been extensively re-worked, including new pistons with clupitt rings, beading around cabdoor, additional rivets, vacuum pipe, new larger injector and finally to top it all, the finest paint job you could wish for, including being lined out by HAND.

The loco has been well run-in at the club track and has a full Southern Fed boiler certificate-Steam expires May, 2010, hydraulic May, 2013-she was completed in 2005 and comes with a crosshead pump, injector and sidetank hand pump.

Measurements-31"long, 9"wide, 13"high.

Price: £4,750 or part exchange.

2”scale Shand Mason Fire Engine.

A magnificent example of the Shand Mason fire engine built to the drawings of Edgar Westbury.

These models are very rare, due, I believe, to the need for woodworking skills of a high order not normally found amongst model engineers.

The model is 22”long, 10”wide, 14”high.

Price: £3,950 or part exchange.

5”gauge Invicta.

An extremely rare example of Invicta in 5”gauge-the builder, a renowned model engineer, scaled the model up from the 3.5”g drawings and made all the patterns and castings by hand. Note! the two different types of spokes on the driving wheels are as on the full size locomotive.

She has an axle pump, tender hand pump, full boiler certificate and will approx. four passsengers.

Measurements-29”long, 8”wide, 14”high.

Price: £2,950 or part exchange.

7.5”gauge Sentinel 0-6-0 twin cylinder steam locomotive

The prize winning builder has based the steam engine on the twin vertical cylinder Caradoc traction engine. There is a water tank in the loco and another in the driving trolley-this one keeps the loco tank topped up by means of an electric pump.

The boiler is a water tube boiler and the water level is maintained by an injector, axle pump and hand pump.

Chains drive, via a Dog Clutch, all three axles.

835 of these locomotives were built, including 35 bought by LNER for conversion to single coach steam units.

The locomotive measures 36” long, 12” wide, 18” high - the boiler certificates expires 2-5-2010.

Price: £3,950 or part exchange.

5”gauge Shay -First Prize Winner-Harrogate-2006

This is a superb example of the very complex three cylinder “Sidewinder” Shay- a locomotive with telescopic connecting rods and gears on each wheel that enabled the several thousand full size locos to traverse temporary tracks in forests, etc., whilst pulling enormous loads. There are some examples still in steam in American Preservation societies.

The locomotive has been run quite often on the club track and has been lovingly cared for. The boiler certificate expires May 2010.

The First Prize Certificate given by the judges in the 5”Gauge class at Harrogate Model Engineering Exhibition-2006, comes with the locomotive.

Price: £6,950 or part exchange.

3.5"gauge Stanier Black Five- "Doris"

A great example of the Stanier Class five in 3.5” gauge having the correct livery for this particular locomotive. She has the fully riveted tender, piston valves, injector, axle pump and tender hand pump.

The measurements are 49”long, 7”wide, 10”high.

She will have her boiler certificate before the point of sale.

Price: £3,250 or part exchange.

5”gauge GWR "Firefly" 2-6-2

This is an absolutely superb example of the "Firefly" that was initially being built to be a running model, however, the builder decided that as he only wanted it for display indoors he made a short cut by not connecting all the various pipework. For example, there is no blast pipe or injectors though all the pipe work is there should the new owner wish to complete the model. There is no disputing that the locomotive looks stunning with a great paint finish.

She has a professional silver soldered copper boiler and all the cab fittings and boiler backhead fittings are installed to the same high quality as the remainder of the model, e.g. doors and hatches are fully hinged with working locks, etc.

The loco measures 40”long, 10”wide and 15”high and comes with a complete set of drawings as supplied by A J Reeves .

SOLD.

5”gauge Industrial saddle tank 0-6-0

It is quite rare to find a model of an industrial saddle tank. This model was built on the chassis of a Simplex. We have had it in the workshop and given it a most thorough overhaul, a repaint and a full boiler inspection-finally she ran really well on the rolling road.

It now has a new full boiler certificate.

She has an axle pump, injector and mechanical lubricator.

Measurements - 34” long, 11” wide, 14” high.

Price: £2,750.

1”scale traction engine “Minnie”

This is a good example of the ever popular miniature traction scratchbuilt in 1”scale, “Minnie” - this particular model has more than the usual amount of brasswork on display. She runs well on compressed and appears to have never been run on steam.

SOLD.

7.25”gauge “Sweet William”

This is an excellent example of the heavy duty larger gauge 0-4-0 Sweetpea.

Ideal for both the club track and commercial layouts with its large capacity boiler, heavy weight for adhesion and effective handbrake for stopping heavily loaded trains.

She has a steel boiler made by Franklin Bell in 1999-working pressure 100psi-with the manufacturer’s full documentation and a new boiler certificate expiring Jan. 2011.

The two injectors are a No.5 and a super large No.6 backed-up with an axle pump that maintains the boiler level in normal running conditions.

Locomotive measurements-86”long, 18”wide and 31”high-she fits into a Ford Mondeo estate quite comfortably.

Price: £6,250 or part exchange.

1.5”scale Burrell Compound with single crankshaft.

This is the quite rare 1.5”scale Burrell traction engine twin cylinder compound with single crankshaft-the model has not been steamed but I have given it a hydraulic test to 120psi and she runs well on compressed .This is the traditional livery for this type of traction engine.

SOLD.

7.25”gauge 0-4-0 Tich

This loco has just come back in part exchange for a larger model. We completed it in our workshop last May-2008 when it gained its boiler certificate. The owner has used it on his garden railway and looked after most caringly keeping it still looking like new. Definitely a loco for those very tight curves found in garden railways but will also perform well at club level. Ideal for the beginner to miniature locomotives.

She has an injector, axle pump and hand pump.

Measurements - 30”long, 13”wide and 19”high - will fit easily into the rear of most hatchbacks.

This locomotive now has a full current boiler certificate.

Price: £3,450 or part exchange.

3.5”gauge LSWR tank locomotive 2-4-0

This is another model built by the same person who built the GER locomotive and to a similar standard. Though not visibly commanding the same attention it too is one for the serious collector.

She measures 23”long,6.5”wide and 10”high.

She too has been steamed frequently but only has an axle pump but unusually a centralised set of steam operated cylinder drain cocks.

Price: £3,250 or part exchange.
